What is Haidong Gumdo?

Haidong Gumdo is a modern Korean swordsmanship martial art developed in the 1970s based on ancient martial arts. It is suitable for all ages and provides both physical and mental exercise for today’s busy people.

Haidong Gumdo means:

  • (Hai) / Sea
  • (Dong) / East
  • (Gum) / Sword
  • (Do) / The right way

“Haidong” refers to the sun rising over the eastern sea, symbolizing the birth of bright light and new beginnings.
